Man Who Attempted To 'Groom' 11-Year-Old Extradited To Wilton, Police Say

A monthlong investigation has led to the arrest and extradition of a 56-year-old out-of-state man police say "groomed" an 11-year-old in an attempt to obtain pornographic images.

In September of 2018, the Wilton Police Department received a complaint of the man contacting the girl in Wilton via the internet. 

Subsequent investigation revealed the accused to reside in Beverly, Massachusetts and Wilton Police worked with Beverly Police to obtain arrest warrants and search warrants.

Mark Crowley was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 25 and charged with risk of injury to a minor and enticement of a minor. He is being held on a $200,000 bond and will be arraigned at the Norwalk Superior Court on Friday, Oct. 6.

The arrest comes after members of the Wilton Police Department went to Beverly and served a search warrant on the accused’s home. 

Electronic evidence was seized and the accused was arrested in Massachusetts and charged as a Fugitive of Justice. He was extradited from to Connecticut, where he was charged. 

He is due to be arraigned at the Norwalk Superior Court on Friday, Oct. 26.
